SC - Copper is a high purity electrolytic copper with a low oxygen content and a residual resistivity ratio of at least 400 which is ideal for superconducting applications.
  • The residual resistivity ratio is the ratio between the electrical resistivity at room temperature 293 K and at the temperature of the boiling helium 4.2 K.
  • The low oxygen content residual impurities for oxidizing the existing residual impurities and thus for purifying the matrix.

High Purity NOSV - CopperBenefiting from the low electrical resistivity at low temperatures, SC - Copper is used in the production of superconductors, i.e. in the manufacture of magnet coil windings, generators, motors and high power cables. Copper with high electrical and high thermal conductivity is able to stabilize the superconductor both electrically and thermally.

In the event of random loss of superconductivity (local increase of temperature), the current can be carried in the copper matrix.

A heat treatment should be performed after the cold working operation because even a little cold working significantly minimizes the residual resistivity ratio resulting from the increase in the lattice defects. Re-crystallization annealing is sufficient under normal operating conditions in order to achieve the original residual resistivity ratio of ≥ 400.
